Dr Ivan Cohen – Chairman

Ivan was elected as Chairman of the CNSS Synagogue Council in May 2019, following 18 months’ responsibility for Shul education programmes.

In July 2006 Ivan moved to Southgate with his wife, Jeanine, and children, Dave and Maya, who were bar and bat mitzvah at CNSS. Born in the old East End, Ivan grew up in Hackney before going off to study at Essex University, where he gained B.A. (Honours) and an M.A. in Economics. In 1991 he was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield for his work on UK pension fund investment. In his day job he is Associate Professor in Finance and Economics at Richmond Business School (www.richmond.ac.uk) and also Chair of the Faculty Senate. He is the author of two books and a range of scholarly articles.

Ivan is a proud supporter of Tottenham Hotspur F.C., without whom he would never have met Jeanine.
