Bar and Bat Mitzvahs

Bar Mitzvah

A boy becomes Bar Mitzvah on his 13th Hebrew birthday.  There is no prescribed ceremony, however it is traditionally marked by his first call up to read from the Torah.

Please discuss all aspects of your son’s Bar Mitzvah with Rabbi Shindler or the Wardens who will be happy to guide you through what happens on the day, and will work with you to ensure that it is a special and joyful occasion for your family.

Bat Mitzvah

Girls reach Bat Mitzvah at the age of 12. It is popular for the Bat Mitzvah girl to celebrate this occasion by delivering a Dvar Torah on Shabbat, but there are many ways to celebrate.

The Rabbi and Wardens will be happy to discuss the options with you in more detail to help you plan this special day.
